v0.1.0: the spike

Sunholo
Stapledon's Voyage team

The first review build: an AILANG simulation driving a Godot starfield, with relativity that is tested rather than eyeballed.

What's new

  • The simulation runs in AILANG as a child process, talking one line of JSON per tick with Godot (about 50 µs per round trip). It flies the ship at 1 g with exact rapidity kinematics.
  • The starfield: 3,802 nearby stars (CNS5), each aberrated toward the bow, coloured as a Doppler-shifted blackbody and beamed brighter ahead.
  • 27 physics reference checks, and 9 cases where the GPU shader must put a star where the CPU reference says, to under 0.1 px.

The sky at 0, 0.5, 0.9 and 0.99c, looking forward, starboard and astern

Not yet

No Milky Way behind the stars, one axis of motion, and star colours from the spectral class only. All three were fixed in M1.

Release: v0.1.0-m0 (macOS review build)
