The ship's AI foundation

Sunholo
Stapledon's Voyage team

The crew's optional AI layer runs end to end, so far on a deterministic test stub: lines with emotion markers, portraits that change with them, a voice, and a hard cost ceiling.

What's new

  • Emotion markers (AI.1–AI.3): a line carries markers like {loving}, validated before the game uses it.
  • A service the game never waits on (AI.4–AI.7): provider routing, a cache, a supervised background process, and key hygiene: a key never appears on a command line.
  • The Medic's accepted portraits, pinned and content-addressed (AI.8).
  • Opt-in and capped (AI.9): live AI stays off until the player adds a key and ticks the box. A ceiling the player sets (US$0.50 by default) stops spending, and automated runs can never go live.
  • The conversation scene (AI.10a, #91): the portrait cross-fades as each emotion marker arrives, the subtitles build segment by segment, and the voice plays.

Not yet

No live model has been called. The first live run (AI.10b) is attended: one real line and a few voice auditions under a US$1 ceiling. The voice in the clip is a placeholder.
