dev.34 and dev.35: home in sixteen steps, and a bridge that faces the way you're going

The camera from dev.33 swung around the spire as you walked, and the controls turned with it. dev.35 fixes that at the root. The ship now travels toward its bow, along the deck. One fixed view looks forward, slides with the captain and never turns. The bridge has been rearranged so every console faces the way you're going. Far from any star, the ship's spire lights the deck.

Callisto, the bubble wall, and a shorter voyage

Callisto was a smooth grey ball because its surface map was missing. It now has its own crater mosaic, and nine other moons gain source imagery too. Dust impacts leave short curved marks across the bubble wall, the gas chart gains density shading, and the guided voyage reaches its distant highlights once each.

Around a black hole, beside Saturn

Two new videos show recent work in motion: a stable orbit around Sagittarius A* and the guided voyage arriving beside Saturn. Both are captures of the game, with the AILANG simulation supplying the motion, clocks and arrival state.

Stars with real size: v0.4.0-dev.19

Until now only the Sun and α Centauri had a size; every other star you visited was a point seen from 1,000 AU away. Now each star in the voyage is a real disc with its measured radius and temperature, and you arrive where its size means something.

Even legs and a gentle arrival: v0.4.0-dev.18

Every Solar System leg now has the same rhythm, about 2¼ minutes in real time: 30 seconds accelerating, about a minute cruising, then braking into a 25-second final approach. The longer legs simply go faster, above 0.999c to Jupiter and Saturn, so the planets now ease into view instead of appearing in the last few seconds.

A real-time voyage to Aldebaran: v0.4.0-dev.17

The guided tour no longer fast-forwards. Every boost and every braking plays at one ship second per wall second, and special relativity, not a time-lapse, is what makes the trips short. Earth to Jupiter takes six minutes aboard while 39 pass on Earth. Then the voyage leaves the Sun behind: α Centauri, TRAPPIST-1 and Aldebaran, 120 Earth years later.
